Matilde Amezquita age 84 of Chelsea Massachusetts went home to be with our Lord on January 1, 2024. Matilde was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico. She was a registered nurse for over forty years and loved her job helping patients through life struggles. At an early age, Matilde moved to New York where she attended Nursing School while raising seven children. She was a very hard worker while balancing motherhood. She moved her family to Boston Massachusetts where she continued to work as a registered nurse. Matilde loved playing cards, going to casinos, listening to music, playing games on her tablet, and enjoying time with her family. Matilde was the last member of her immediate family to be put to rest. She is preceded in death by her daughter Aixa Amezquita, her first grandchild Rosa Amezquita, and her only sister Yolanda Arbelo. Matilde leaves behind three sons Luis Amezquita, Rafael Rijos, and Pedro Abreu, three daughters Diana Perez, Iris Abreu, and Carmen Abreu-Riley, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The memorial service will be held on January 6, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Casper Funeral Home, located at 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston Massachusetts 02127.
