Carole Strother Rawlins, 86, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Crossview Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dusty Stoey and the Rev. Ike Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Level Cemetery, in Ben Hill County, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services in the church sanctuary.
Ms. Rawlins was born June 9, 1937, in Franklinton, North Carolina, to the late John David “Jack” & Annie Mae Harris Strother. Ms. Rawlins moved to Oxford, North Carolina at the age of six until the age of 14. Later she moved to Greensboro, North Carolina and lived there until she married a military man. They moved to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina and traveled to several states as well as Munich, Germany, where her first daughter was born. Later she settled in Georgia. Ms. Rawlins retired from B.C. Moore’s Department Store after 22 years and also worked for Belk’s in Tifton, Georgia. She loved to read any newspapers, good books, and loved to do puzzles. She enjoyed walking and working in her yard when she was able and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ms. Rawlins will always be remembered for her delicious Thanksgiving dressing. She was a member of Crossview Baptist Church, the former Northside Baptist Church, where she was in the Seekers Sunday School Class and Golden Believers.
She is survived by her children: Debbie Floyd of Fitzgerald and Pat Reihing & Chris of Alpharetta; grandchildren: Samantha Reaves & Will, Patrick Paramore, Joey Reihing and Karisa Reihing; great-grandchildren: Kolbee Paramore, Elliot Reaves and Ella Reaves.
