Lois O. Stewart, 79, of Derry, NH, died Monday January 1, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 25, 1944 in Everett, MA, a daughter of the late James and Gladys (MacLean) Woods. After graduating Everett High School in 1962, she attended Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater MA. In 1970, she married Donald C. Stewart and they later settled in Dublin, Texas where they made their home and raised their family. Lois was very active within their community and was involved in her children’s activities usually as a coach or volunteer. She was employed as a school nurse at Dublin Elementary for many years, where she enjoyed caring for children and developed lifelong friendships with the school staff. After the passing of her husband in 2021, she moved back to her New England roots to reside with her daughter Robyn in Derry, NH.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Daniel J. Stewart and his wife Stacee; grandson Duke Stewart of Brownwood, TX, her daughter, Dr. Robyn Stewart White and her husband Andrew; granddaughter Camryn White and grandson Nathan White, of Derry, NH; her sister, Winona Hutto of Dothan, AL; as well as several Mopheads. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Stewart in 2021, and her brother, Donald Woods of Franklin, NH
A memorial fund has been created in her name. Contributions will be used to support the students of Dublin ISD in need. Checks can be made out to The Lois Stewart Memorial Fund and sent to Dublin ISD at PO Box 169, Dublin, TX 76446.
The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry are assisting the family with arrangements.
