Eleanor R. (Ferranti) Fiamma, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Monday, January 1, 2024, at the Katzman Center for Living in Chelsea surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years of age.
Eleanor was born at home in Charlestown on October 27, 1934, a daughter of the late John Ferranti and Rose (Fuschi) Ferranti. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School System and graduated from Girls High School in 1952. She worked as a Administrative Secretary for Signa Insurance for 30 years until her retirement. Following her retirement, she worked at the Kennedy Center and later at the Massachusetts General Hospital North End Health Center. Eleanor was well-known and will be remembered by many for her love of cooking and always sharing her Italian dishes with neighbors and friends. She loved to host the Bunker Hill Day parade parties with relatives and friends making her famous chicken wings, and Italian meatballs. She also enjoyed shopping at J.C. Penny and spending time at the beach. Eleanor was a member of the Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association.
Eleanor is the wife of the late Salvatore "Sal" Fiamma. She is the devoted mother of Vinnie Fiamma and his wife Kathy, Gina Fiamma and her partner Stuart, John Fiamma, Diana Fiamma, Elena Donovan, Anita Lott, and Dorinna Fiamma. She is the loving Nunna to Vince, Alyse, Zach, Isabelle, Nicole, Giuliana, Thomas, Breno, Sean, and to her great-granddaughter Chloe Isabella. She is the dear sister of the late Josephine Krakofsky, Joseph Ferranti, and John Ferranti. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eleanor's Funeral Mass on Friday morning, January 5, 2024, at 10 A.M. in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown. Parking attendants provided. Her burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
