TEWKSBURY: Mildred J. “Millie” (Young) Springford, age 86, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Friday, December 29, 2023, one day after celebrating her 86th birthday.
Born on December 28, 1937, she was one of eleven children of the late Thomas J. Young and the late Margaret A. (Bjurstrom) Young.
Millie was a lifelong resident of Tewksbury and attended Tewksbury Public Schools.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a machine operator for the Spring Manufacturing Corporation, of Tewksbury.
In her spare time, she enjoyed watching professional sports, especially the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots.
Millie is survived by her five children, Stephen T. Springford and his wife Denise, of Sandown, NH, Thomas J. Springford and his wife Catherine, of Dracut, Joseph L. Springford and his wife Karen, of Newton, NH, Michael S. Springford and his wife Cynthia, of Plaistow, NH, and Sandra J. Springford, of Lowell: her grandchildren, Thomas Springford and his wife Terri, of Chelmsford, Kayla Lalone and her husband Justin, of Gilbert, AZ, Carolyn Springford, of Avon, CT, and Timothy Springford, of Tuscon, AZ: her great granddaughter, Olivia Lalone, of Gilbert, AZ: her brother, Arthur Young and his wife Judy, of Belmont, NH: her sister, Katherine Murphy, of Aberdeen, MD: her sister-in-law, Judy Young, of FL: also many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Jan. 9th, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin Wednesday, Jan. 10th, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Dorothy’s Church, cor of Main & Harnden Sts., Route 38, Wilmington. Services will conclude with interment at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury.
