CHICOPEE – Donald E. Remillard, 92, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, December 31, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at the Agawam South Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home in Chicopee on June 2, 1931, a beloved son of the late Leonel and Madeleine (Laramee) Remillard. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Holyoke Trade School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He served his country in the United States Army with the 65th Infantry Regiment 3rd Division and received the Award of the Bronze Star Medal (First Bronze Oak-Leaf Cluster) for heroic achievement during military operations against an enemy of our country and attained the rank of Sergeant. He also received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed as a Lithographer for over 42 years at National Blank Book, which later became Avery Dennison, in Holyoke. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. During his leisure time, he enjoyed spending time out on the golf course with his friends. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his loving son, David M. Remillard of Chicopee; his two dear brothers, Hubert L. “Joe” Remillard and his wife, Patricia, of Chicopee and Vincent L. Remillard and his wife, Joyce, of Green Valley, AZ; his former wife, Barbara A. (Simons) Brown of South Hadley; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear sister, Constance D. Sicard and her husband, Jacques. His family will receive friends on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear. His Burial with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Prayer Service at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
