Carol A. (Harding) Mendes, 79, New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 23, 2023. She was the long time partner of Ramon Rivera.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late George Harding, Sr. and Doris (Lapointe) Harding, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved being in the outdoors and playing cards. Carol loved being a mother and taking care of her children. She was the go-to person and was always there for everybody.
Carol worked as a fish cutter at Seaview Filet in New Bedford.
Survivors include her children, Mark Mendes, Sr., and his wife Michelle of New Bedford, Pamela Amaral and her boyfriend Emmett Behan of New Bedford, Jacinto Mendes, Jr., of New Bedford and Candie Mendes and her partner Sheryle Rodrigues of Acushnet; her siblings, Debra Parris, Edgar Harding, William Harding, and Armand Harding and his wife Janice; her grandchildren, Jennifer Pimental and her partner Derek Remy Sr., Rebecca Mendes, Jessica Mendes, Jerrica Amaral and her partner Matthew Arabian, Mark Mendes, Jr., Michael Mendes, Mathieu Mendes, Sienna Mendes, and Jacinto Mendes III; her great grandchildren, Stephon Mendes, Derek Remy, Jr., Sorina Mendes, Hannah Remy, and Nysiah Mendes, Adrianna Mendes, Noah Mendes, Justin Mendes Ella Mendes, Jordan Mendes, Cheynne Pendergast, Devon Mendes, Nevaeh Arabian and Aubree Mendes; and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her siblings, George Harding, Robert Harding, Ronald Harding, Rene Harding, Lorraine Harding, Eleanor Cataen, Barbara Thibeault, Edward Harding, and Charles Harding; and her granddaughter Felicia Mendes.
Carol's Funeral will be held Wednesday, January 3rd at 11 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Mass in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. Burial will be private at a later date. Her visitation will be held Tuesday, from 4-8 PM.
