Obituary

Douglas MacArthur Jack, 81, of Windham, NH, passed away Sunday December 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH. He was born on March 10, 1942 in Melrose, MA, a son of the late George and Alice (Tebeau) Jack, and had been a resident of Windham for the past 48 years. He was a graduate of Plymouth State College and earned Masters' degrees in education and business. Douglass' passion was teaching. He was employed as a teacher for various schools in Southern NH and Northern MA, notably working at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH for many years and later Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, MA. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and enjoyed traveling on his Honda Goldwing motorcycle with his wife Jane. Douglass was very proud of earning the title of Hanchi as an 8th degree Black belt in karate as well as earning the teaching degree of Shihan. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and doctors at Catholic Medical Center for the excellent care they provided to Douglass.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Jane (Wells) Jack of Windham; his son, George Jack and wife Jennifer of Concord, NH; his daughter, Heather Larochelle of Manchester; four granddaughters, Andrea, Olivia, Isabella and Madeline; his older brother James Jack and wife Katherine of Peabody, MA; his older sister, Nola Bennett and husband James of Newburyport, MA, a dear friend, Paul Jean , as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by a sister, Heather Jack.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held privately by the family. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Windham Fire Fighters Association, 3 Fellows Road, Windham, NH 03087.
