Leonard N. Devoe, 85, of Salem, passed away at the Salem Hospital on Sunday, December 24, 2023 following a long period of declining health. He was the devoted husband of Patricia T. (Parisien) Devoe with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Emile J. and Edna M. (Breard)
DeVoe. Following high school, Joined the Navy in 1956 and served in Europe and later stateside in the Great Lakes through ‘ 62. Afterwards, he served in the Naval Reserves through the early 1980’s.
He returned to Salem and continued his education at Bentley College where he received his Bachelor’s degree in accounting and subsequently earned his CPA. Leonard worked for the IRS in Boston for over 40 years as an agent and later as a computer audit specialist.
An avid cinema watcher, following his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family creating videos and memories of his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Pat, he is survived by their four children, Daniel L. Devoe and wife Karen Frascatore of Needham, Janelle D. Casella and husband Charles of Georgetown,Timothy W. Devoe and wife Nicole of Natick, Kimberly E. Graham of Lowell and six siblings, Armand E. Devoe and wife Patricia &Mariane E. Legault and husband Albert all of Beverly, David H. Devoe and wife Anne &Therese M. Devoe all of Salem, Marcel J. & Wilfred D. Devoe both of Peabody.
He also leaves seven grandchildren, Michael V., Matthew E. and Megan M. Devoe, Caitlyn R. and Lauren C. Casella, Stephanie S. Devoe, and Richard A. Graham, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Victor J. Devoe.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Ste Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 11:30 AM followed by his burial with Military Honors in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. His visiting hours will be at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1A] Salem on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
