Vincent A. Brown, age 84, of Norton, passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loving family on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Cedarwood Gardens in Franklin. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara V. (Rich) Brown, who died on March 28, 2015.
Born in Brockton, MA on August 3, 1939, he was a loving son of the late Vincent, Sr and Mary (Medeiros) Brown.
Vinnie grew up In Mansfield and was a graduate of Mansfield High School. He continued his education, attending Dean Junior College in Franklin and during the time of the Vietnam War, proudly served his country for three as a member of the United States Navy.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Brown worked as a machinist at the former L.F. Fales in Walpole. He was well-known in Norton, as the owner of the former Jimmy’s Restaurant on Mansfield Avenue in Norton and along with his son, was the co-owner of the former Norton Hot Dog Stand, a landmark on West Main Street in Norton.
Vinnie had made his home in Norton for many years and was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton. His family was the focal point of his life and they always came first. He especially enjoyed times spent in Florida with his late wife Barbara and proudly attending all of his granddaughter Stephanie’s sporting events and his grandson Timothy’s concerts and music events.
He is survived by his devoted son James V. Brown and his girlfriend Sherry Mitchell of Norton. He was the cherished grandfather of Stephanie Brown and her fiancé Andrew Peterson of Norton, Timothy Brown and his girlfriend Alyssa Larson of Norton, and the step great grandfather of Sabrina and Sofia. He was the dear brother of Alan Brown and his wife Darlene of Florida, Susan Texeira and her husband Dominic of Onset and the late Natalie Lima. He was the much-loved brother-in-law of Janet O’Reilly and her husband Ronald of Norton and the late Butch Rich and Zeb Rich. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 3rd at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial, accompanied by military honors, will follow at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.
