Obituary

Edward ("Ed") Joseph Darby of Katonah, New York, formerly of Ossining passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2023. He was 60 years old. His family and friends are deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.

Ed was born on December 3, 1963, to Rosemary Bridget Ward Darby and Joseph Michael Darby in North Tarrytown (Sleepy Hollow), New York.

Ed was raised in Ossining, New York, where he developed lifelong friendships. After completing high school, Ed obtained his Master Electrician license in 1990 and started his electrician business primarily serving Westchester and Putnam Counties.

Ed was a uniquely caring human being, committed to helping others find a spiritual path to wholeness, healing and self love. Ed worked through various struggles throughout his life which he openly shared with others when he thought it could be helpful to them. He was a very compassionate and kind man who understood Life's challenges and inner struggles for attaining self love and acceptance. His passion was to pave a way of enlightenment, hope and transformation for others in need. His dedication had a profound impact on many who knew him.

A big man at 6' 6", Ed's presence and personality easily matched his large stature. Although Ed was strong willed and hard-headed at times, he showed his enormous heart to all who knew him. He was quite witty and known for his booming, infectious laugh. He made others laugh (sometimes uncontrollably) without trying.

Ed was a devoted father to his forever pride and joy, Angela. He loved taking her on vacations and memorialized their years of love and fun with countless photos!

Ed loved his Harley motorcycle and enjoyed riding all over Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess Counties with his beloved canine partner, Malley! They became an iconic duo throughout the region, as Malley in full motorcycle attire happily perched behind her master, drew attention and delight for all who caught a glimpse of them traveling together!

Ed loved simplicity and enjoyed various styles of music, movies and contemplative, spiritual reading. In his younger days he displayed some of his various talents including art, writing and sports, notably baseball and bowling.

Ed is survived by his beloved daughter Angela (Joseph), grandson Ezra Joseph, his dear canine partner Malley, siblings Mary, Nancy (John), and Tom (Audrey), niece Christine, nephews Bennett, James (JJ), Ian and Ryan, his dear Uncle Tom and Aunt Lucille and cousin Pam (Hank), cousin Sean, cousin Evelyn (Tom,), cousin Paul (Myrta), cousin Andrew (Ada), great nephew Julian, sister-in-law Chris, and Life brother David Giovanni. Ed is also survived by his two feline companions Shadow and Angel.
