Vandell Edward “Van” Bennett, 76, of Ashburn passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Bennett will be laid to rest at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Murray Fender, Chad Bracewell, Andy Fender, Reid Bennett, William James and Aden Huerta will serve as pallbearers.
Born May 9, 1947, in Tifton, Mr. Bennett was the son of the late Dennis Edward Bennett and Delma Lee Giddens Bennett. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Reba Ann Cross, who passed away December 15, 2023. Before retiring, he was a low voltage contractor; and he was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Jennilynn Gegante Bennett of Ashburn; four sons, Shane Bennett, Kain Bennett, Tate Bennett and Joshua Bennett; two daughters, Wendy Thompson and Kayann Bennett; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Candas Bennett of Tifton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Gary Bracewell of Alpharetta and Livia and Timothy Hall of Tifton; a brother-in-law, Don Cross of Omega; twelve grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
