Doris M. (George) Murrey, age 89, of Norton, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Born in Warren, Rhode Island on December 31, 1933, she was a loving daughter of the late Stephen and Josephine (Znamirowski) George.
Doris grew up in Warren, Rhode Island and was a 1951 graduate of Warren High School. She had made her home for over sixty-five years and formerly worked as an Account Executive for Creative Modeling Tool & Die in Attleboro, retiring in 1999.
Spending time with her family and granddaughters was truly the best and most important parts of her life. Doris was an active member of the Chartley United Methodist Church in Norton and graciously volunteered her assistance at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro and at the Attleboro Art Museum.
She was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan and loved spending time at the beach, Second Beach in Middletown, Rhode Island being her favorite point of destination. Doris always had a special place in her heart for animals, especially the dogs that frequented her home throughout the years.
She is survived by her devoted daughter and best friend of Allison L. Chancey of Norton. She was the cherished and proud grandmother of Emma L. Chancey of Norton and Lauren M. Chancey of Norton. She is also survived by her grand dogs “Gus” and “Zoe” and was the former wife of the late Lane M. Murrey, who died on March 14, 1995.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, January 4th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5th at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.
