Obituary

Cheryl Ann Ryan, 63, of Chelmsford, passed away on December 26, 2023, after battling a brief illness. She was the beloved daughter of George and Maureen Ryan and the eldest of five children.

Cheryl was born on September 23, 1960, in Lowell, and grew up attending Chelmsford Public Schools. She graduated from Chelmsford High School and worked locally, at Goodwill.

Known for her infectious laughter, Cheryl’s kind heart endeared her to family, friends, and her local community. She loved to attend family gatherings and to celebrate birthdays. Notably, Cheryl never forgot a loved one's birthday and will always be remembered for giving the warmest hugs.

Besides her loving parents, George and Maureen, she is survived by her siblings: Colleen Leonard and her husband, Robert; George Ryan Jr. (Georgie) and his wife, Anita; Gary Ryan and his wife, Terri; and Sean Ryan and his wife, Suzue. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, and great-aunt to one grandnephew. Our cherished angel will be greatly missed by all.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the amazing medical staff at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. Their compassion and care allowed Cheryl’s last weeks to be filled with love, laughter, and fond memories of her family by her side.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 01852. Her Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 25 North Road, Chelmsford, MA with a procession to follow for burial and committal prayers at St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell.
