SOUTH PORTLAND- Betty M. Brown, 86, peacefully went home to her Lord and Savior on December 25, 2023.
Betty was born on Jan 5, 1937 in Winthrop, ME.
She is predeceased by her parents Evelyn and William Olsen, and William Patten. Her husband, Ralph L. Brown Jr, their son Ralph L. Brown III, her siblings Gary Patten and Judith Brown as well as her son in laws Walter Jordan and Douglas Niles Sr.
She married the love of her life, Ralph in 1953. The two of them built a beautiful life together while they raised their 5 children. They owned RBJ’s ceramic and macrame shop in South Portland. They were members of a bowling team. They knew how to have fun, especially when they were winning rollerskating and jitterbug dance contests together. They spent a lot of time camping while their kids were growing up. One thing they loved to do was travel, they would go to see friends in Texas and spend the winters in Florida with their grandson Rick, Crystal and their kids. They also made wonderful memories spending time with their dear friends Marylou and Ish and Mona and Leo.
Betty was known for her talent in sewing and knitting. She had perfected her craft and loved making quilts for her family. She taught her kids to knit and her husband helped make the many quilts for their grandchildren. She never stopped sewing and in her later years made quilts for the children born to the families of her church.
Betty loved her family fiercely and loved spending time with her grandkids. Her friends would describe her as sweet, kind and giving.
She is survived by her brother Richard Patten, wife Merlene, sisters Lorraine Crosby and Joanne Patten. Her children Vickie Taliento, husband Neil, Tammy Niles, William Brown, wife Zeruah, and Judith Jordan. Grandchildren Rick, wife Crystal, Emilia, Lena, Kayla, husband Danny, Doug Jr, David, Dana, Dan, Will, Lisa, Jeremy, Chris, Ianna, Lillia, Jamie, Shawn, Leandra and Alisha. As well as 23 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Reunited with your love in heaven. You will live on through your family but will be sorely missed by us all, we love you.
A celebration of life will be on Saturday Jan, 6th, 2024 at 1pm at
Grace Bible Church
