Obituary

Robert D. Berry, 69, of Pembroke, Massachusetts passed away at home after a hard-fought battle with cancer on December 24, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born July 5, 1954, the son of Priscilla D. Berry and the late L. Raymond Berry, he graduated from Weymouth South High School in 1972 and later went on to earn an associate degree from Massasoit Community College.

Robert worked many years in the food service industry and then later went on to spend the remaining 20 years of his career as a union millwright. In retirement he went back into the food service industry and founded the Cast Iron Café in Whitman, MA.

Robert loved working with his hands. He was always into something whether it was restoring his old Chris-Craft boat, working on a car, or a renovation project at home. Robert also loved to dream.

He leaves behind his wife of 47 years Catherine (Lane) Berry, son Mark Berry and his wife Julie of Hanson, MA, daughter Kathleen Berry and her husband Michael of Hanson, MA, daughter Deirdre Berry and her husband Paul of Whitman, MA, daughter Lisa (Berry) Generous and her husband Tony of Goodyear, Arizona, twelve beautiful grandchildren Brooke, Michael, Brandon, Matthew, Julia, Mark, Oliver, Maxwell, Alexa, Vera, Robert, and Priscilla “Penny”, best friend Steven Albert of Wareham, MA, siblings Nancy, Deborah, Kenneth, Donald, Jonathan, Jennifer and numerous extended family members.

Family and friends are invited to attend Robert's visiting hours Friday, December 29th from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 30th at 11:00 AM in the United Church of Christ, 10 Bedford Street, Abington.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center.
