James F. “Jim” McDonough, Jr., age 77, of Woburn, formerly of Quincy and Winchester, passed away on December 24, 2023. He was the husband of Priscilla N. “Penny” (Johnson) McDonough of Quincy.
Born in Boston, Jim was the son of the late Dr. James F., Sr. and Marie (Barry) McDonough. He was raised and educated in Winchester and was a graduate of Winchester High School. He then attended the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). He worked as the Executive Chef at John Hancock for over 45 years.
Known as “C.J.” by his inner circle, for “Cool Jim”, he was branded for his friendly and kind disposition. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed playing golf and was a lifelong Bruins fan.
In addition to his wife, Penny, Jim is lovingly survived by his sons: James F. McDonough III of Norwell and Christopher A. McDonough of Quincy. He was also the devoted grandfather of Christopher J. McDonough and Matthew L. Hanly, and the dear brother of Barry McDonough and his wife Deborah of FL, and Kathryn Werner of RI. A sister, Mary Alice Mallon, predeceased him.
