Elma Ruth Ford Harrell, 95, of Sumner passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at PruittHealth in Sylvester. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Harrell will be laid to rest at Sumner Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 30, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Mrs. Harrell’s family members will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 25, 1928, in Moultrie, Mrs. Harrell was the daughter of the late John Ford and Sally Jane Cox Ford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim Monroe Harrell; three sons, James “Skeeter” Harrell, Donnie David Harrell and Roger Winiford Harrell; one grandson; one great-grandson; and several brothers and sisters. Before retiring, she co-owned the Auction Barn in Sumner with her husband. She had a strong Christian faith; and she was a member of Bethel Bible Tabernacle in Sumner.
Mrs. Harrell is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Sara and Phillip Tillery of Sumner, Ilene and Arthur Westbrook of Scooterville, Ruth and Carl Lloyd of Carrollton, Martha Summerlin and David Yarberry of Douglas and Jackie and Mike Medders of Sylvester; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
