Biography of Andretha Rémy
March 18, 1963 - December 14, 2023
Andretha JEAN was born in Jacmel, Haiti on March 18, 1963. She was the first in a family of 5 children, a natural daughter of Louisance JEAN (deceased) and Siliana SENATUS (deceased).
She and Fayol Rémy lived in the same neighborhood in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and in 1979, they started their lifetime together. It was here that they raised 5 children. Andretha accepted Christ in 1999 and was baptized in 2000, and along with her family, her faith was her foundation from then on, and was an active member of the New Baptist Evagelique Church of Canaan (Ayiti) She and Fayol were officially married on February 23, 2001, and she became known as Andretha Rémy.
She ran a small market out of their home, and together with her husband, they worked hard and sacrificed to provide education for each of their children. On March 15, 2023, Andretha and Fayol were able to travel and visit their family in the United States, joyfully reuniting with their children and meeting some grandchildren for the first time. Andretha found solace in the tranquility and safety of her new home in the small community of Barnard, Vermont.
This past September 2023, she was diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer. Her treatments began on November 29th with high hopes for full recovery. Sadly, on December 13, 2023, a pre-existing condition worsened from the treatment’s side effects. That night, her condition deteriorated, and despite the medical team’s best efforts, on the morning of December 14, 2023, she passed from this world. She was courageous, strong and full of faith throughout.
Andretha had a beautiful smile, a playful sense of humor and a passion for Haitian cuisine. Above all, her heart belonged to her family and she ensured she spoke to each of her children nearly every day.
Andretha leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her devoted husband, Fayol Rémy, and her cherished children: Fanel Rémy, Lamise Oyugi, Mackenson Rémy, Robenson Rémy, and Nadine Niles. She will be forever missed, but her memory lives on in the hearts of her 12 grandchildren and all of her extended family and friends, a testament to the profound impact she had on those she held dear.
May God receive our Mother, our grandmother, and our friend Andretha Rémy, into His kingdom.
Services in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street Brockton Wednesday December 27th at 10:30 am. Burial to follow in Melrose Cemetery, 88 N Pearl Street Brockton. Viewing from 9 am prior to services.
