Donald G. “Duffy” McCarthy, of Gloucester, formerly of Medford, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 23rd. He was 81. Born in Malden, he was the cherished son of the late Donald and Anna (Leahy) McCarthy. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Marie (Callahan) McCarthy. He was the devoted father of Diane Taylor-Vetree and her husband Dennis Vetree, Linda Dunn and her late husband Robert, and David McCarthy. He was the loving Grampa of Alyssa Taylor and Kali Vetree. He was the dear brother of Teresa McCarthy and the late Paul McCarthy and his surviving wife Irene, and the late Denise Landrum.
Duffy's funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, December 29th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday, December 28th from 4 to 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Late Coast Guard veteran and retired City of Medford Firefighter.
