Winnifred Loraine Pitts, 87, of Atkinson, NH, former long-time Londonderry, NH resident, passed away Wednesday December 20, 2023, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA, after a sudden illness. Winnie was born April 8, 1936, in Madison, ME and was the daughter of the late Phillip and Frances (Hibbard) St. Peter. She was raised and educated in Madison, prior to relocating to Londonderry in 1963. She had lived in Atkinson for the past year.
But for a few years selling real estate, Winnie spent most of her life as a homemaker raising her three children. She made a mean apple pie winning the only two pie contests she entered; her strawberry shortcake was pretty good too, with real whip cream, “not that stuff in a can.” In her later years she and husband Ed worked for FEMA helping people after (mostly) natural disasters. Her most memorable experience was in New York City after 9/11.
She also enjoyed painting and spending many winters seasons in Venice, FL. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and great grandmother.
Members of the family include her loving husband of 67 years, Edgar Pitts, two sons and their wives, Thomas (Celeste) Pitts and Philip (Lisa) Pitts; one daughter, Susan Cooper. Seven grandchildren, Eric, Lisa, Jessica, Michael, Laura, Travus and Jonathan; and five great grandchildren, Ben, Luke, Jimmy, Rosalie and William.
