Joan M. (Duggan) Doyle of Norwood, formerly of Jamaica Plain, Mission Hill and Quincy, and formerly of Millstreet, Co. Cork, Ireland, passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2023. Beloved wife of the late James Doyle, formerly of Co. Kilkenny, Ireland. Loving mother of Sheila Kahaly and her husband George of Walpole, Sean Doyle and his wife Shannon of Norwood, and Katie Doyle (NPD) and her partner Dave of Marshfield. Devoted grandmother of Shannon, Erin, Caitlin, Patrick, Ryan, and Kate. Dear sister of Sheila O’Connor of Millstreet and the late Eileen Orpen of Castletownbere, both of Co. Cork, Ireland. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of dear friends, here in the U.S., Ireland, and England, and her cherished dog Scotty.

Joan retired after a distinguished 30-year career in Boston College, working in both the Theology and Off-Campus Housing Departments. Joan was the first woman and long-standing board member of the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton where she served in many roles including Vice-President and secretary.

Visiting Hours in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury, on Thursday, December 28th from 9:00am to 11:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Theresa of Avila Church, 2078 Centre Street, West Roxbury at 11:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment at Mt. Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joan may be made to the Norwood Council on Aging at 275 Prospect Street in Norwood.
