Obituary

Evelyn Elizabeth (Newcomb) Gambino, age 88, a 63-year resident of Winchester, passed away at home on December 19, 2023, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Gambino.

Evelyn was born, raised and educated in Stoneham. She was employed for many years at the Charles Ro Supply Company in Malden, a job she loved. She and John raised their family in Winchester, and in her spare time Evelyn enjoyed cooking, shopping and playing Bingo. Her Sunday sauce was legendary, and the family loved to gather for traditional Sunday dinners. She also loved to travel to Foxwoods once a year for a fun adventure at the casino.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Deborah McManus and her husband Steve of Woburn, Elise Gambino-Hamilton and her husband Peter of Winchester, Denise Carter of Lowell and the late Donna Krea and her late husband Michael of Woburn. She was the devoted grandmother of Garry Materese, Tanya Funari, Dennis Carter and Michael Gambino; the great-grandmother of Isabella, Sophia and Giuliana Funari. She was predeceased by her siblings Mildred Wiles, Beverly Settemio and Edward Newcomb. She will also be missed by her dog “Louie” and her tabby cat “Lily”.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Tuesday, December 26, at 11:00 AM. Visiting Hour will be held one hour prior to the service from 10-11AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
