GILMANTON ---- Yvonne Marie Chamberlain, 86, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at the home of her niece in Gilmanton, NH. After a long battle with COPD she is finally at rest and arrived in Heaven just in time for Christmas with her family.
Yvonne was born February 20, 1937 to Rose and Paul Belanger of Laconia, NH. She was a life-long resident of the Laconia area. Early adventures in life took her across the country to Montana and Colorado where she lived in beautiful places in which she felt a strong connection to the land and mountains around her. She always spoke fondly of her travels and the experiences she had there. After eventually returning home to New Hampshire, she lived a quiet life in Laconia with her son and beloved cats. Declining health brought her to Gilmanton, NH, where she enjoyed living “out in the woods.” She was excited to see the wildlife in the yard, from watching birds and a deer with her young one to counting turkeys to seeing a bear. She loved it all.
During her life Yvonne worked at Scott and Williams, Wilcom and the Laconia Evening Citizen. She loved her job at the Citizen where she was a typesetter.
Yvonne had a great sense of humor which earned her the nickname “Crazy” from her brother-in-law Paul. She loved to read, especially mysteries, crime dramas and anything about animals. She loved wolves and spoke of the time she met one at a sanctuary out west where one blessed her with a kiss. At one time she had a motorcycle and enjoyed riding with her sister Dolly and brother Emile. Yvonne was a gifted artist with her drawings, especially portraits. She always had a jigsaw puzzle going and enjoyed having a cup of coffee with visitors and working a puzzle or playing rummy. In the summer, she loved taking a drive and just exploring, the only rule being that she ends up at the ocean for a lobster dinner. Yvonne was a kind and gentle soul and will be missed.
Yvonne is predeceased by her parents Rose and Paul Belanger; siblings, Doris (Dolly) Belanger Haskell, Emile Belanger, Edward Belanger, and Leo Belanger; her only son Mark A. Chamberlain; and grandson Michael Chamberlain.
She leaves behind her nieces; Linda Harper, Sharon Warner and Susan Robie; nephew Paul (Pip) Haskell; great-nieces Cassidy Harper Clairmont and Molly Harper; and her great-nephews, Jacob Harper, Derrick Haskell, Paul Haskell, and Aron Robie; great-great niece Eliza Clairmont (her little sweetheart); and great-great nephew Milo Clairmont. Yvonne also leaves behind her grandsons, Mark Chamberlain and Matthew Chamberlain.
There will be no Calling Hours.
Burial will be held later in the spring of 2024 at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia, NH.
For those who wish, donations may be made to Franklin VNA and Hospice, 75 Chestnut Street, Franklin, NH 03235. The angels that work at the Franklin VNA, some who have known Yvonne for years, are amazing caring compassionate caregivers. Through their caring support Yvonne was able to pass peacefully at home.
