Obituary

Kathleen Ann Wilson

October 23, 1949- December 18, 2023

Born Kathleen McGarry to Dorothy and John McGarry, Kathy and her brother, John, were raised in Akron, Ohio. She graduated at the top of her class from Our Lady of the Elms School and went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree from the prestigious Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. There, she met her husband David, graduating early to begin a life with him.

Kathy supported Dave through graduate studies in philosophy in Miami while making waves herself at Xerox, and later their move to Boston where they settled in Sudbury and Chatham. Kathy designed her dream home, in which she remained until her final days, cared for by David, her daughters, grandchildren, and many wonderful friends. Kathy was an active, vivacious, funny, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was passionate about reading, the sun, making things beautiful, and creating joy. While raising children she volunteered with the Junior League and enjoyed a rewarding social life. She encouraged her children to be ambitious and family-oriented. She had a connection to her faith in God that persisted in life’s ups and downs.

Kathy is survived by her husband David and three daughters; Kelly (Daniel) Laurance of Maple Grove, MN; Megan (Alan) Houseknecht of San Diego, CA; and Kate (Gary) Scheid of Norwell, MA. Kathy’s memory and spirit will live on in the hearts of her seven grandchildren; Jessica Grace, Brady Wade, Natalie Anne, John David, Evangeline Rose, Mae Kathleen, and Alan James.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate in Kathy’s name to the League Club of Cape Cod Funding Dreams campaign to benefit the Lower Cape Outreach Council - Edie Hamilton, P.O. Box 718, North Chatham, MA 02650.
