Obituary

Margaret T. "Peggy" (Lawler) Sindoris, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Sunday, December 18, 2023, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 83 years of age.

Peggy was born in Boston on May 17, 1940, a daughter of the late Joseph Lawler and Helen (Leahy) Lawler. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Peggy worked for several years at the Bunker Hill Health Center in Charlestown as a Medical Secretary before working for Massachusetts General Hospital as a Medical Secretary for over 30 years. She was a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association, Daughters of Isabella # 1 and The Charlestown Senior Center.

Peggy has been an advocate for most of her life for the Bunker Hill Park and Doherty Playground. She has been a voice for the people of Charlestown as to the upkeep and future of the park and pool. On most sunny days, Peggy could be seen in the park sitting on a bench and reading her book. During the hot summer days, Peggy was a fixture inside the pool grounds. Peggy enjoyed listening to Irish music, reading and was always willing to take a trip anywhere. Family was always the most important aspect in Peggy's life, and she enjoyed the quality time she spent with her son and daughter and cherished all the special moments she has been able to share with each one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Peggy is the beloved wife of the late John J. "Jack" Sindoris. She is the devoted mother of Jackie Sindoris and Joanne Doherty and her husband Boston Fire Department Deputy Chief Michael Doherty. She is the mother-in-law of Kim Campbell. She is the loving Nana to Michael and his companion Anna DiGravio, Jillian and her husband Jeren, Colin, Ronan, Bridget and her husband Thomas Lemerise, Jacqueline and her fiancé John Mazza, Miceala and her great-grandchildren Ryleigh and Camden. She is the beloved sister of Judy Lawler, Joseph Lawler and his wife Helen and the late Helen "Hunna" Gillen. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Peggy's Funeral on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 3 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
