DALY, Marie T. (Maida) of Dedham, December 18, 2023. Devoted mother of Janet Daly and her husband Henrik Nielsen of WA and James Daly and his wife Sonia Turcios of Norwood. Grandmother of Benjamin and Nora Nielsen and Andrew and Emily Daly. Sister of Katherine Fitzhenry of Dedham, Richard Maida of Dedham, and Elizabeth Munchbach of Dedham. Former wife of the late Francis H. Daly.
Marie was a 1947 graduate of Dedham High School. She was a clerk at Norfolk County District Court in Dedham from 1948 to 1966. A longtime volunteer at Greenlodge Elementary School, she returned to work at the Town of Dedham Assessors Office from 1980 through 1998.
Marie was active at St. Mary’s Church as both a CCD teacher and member of Sodality. She served her town as a Dedham Town Meeting Member from Precinct 7, and as an Elections worker, a role she greatly enjoyed. Marie will be remembered for a kind, unassuming manner, her wisdom, and deep love for family.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Friday, Dec. 22 from 4-7pm. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 23 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
