Nancy Marie (Jacobson) Dunbar, 79, of Abington, passed away Monday December 18th, surrounded by her loving family at Queen Anne’s Corner Nursing Home in Hingham.
Nancy was born in 1944, the first child of Robert and Dorothy Jacobson, then of Quincy, then Abington and Hanover MA, Maryland and finally in Carver, MA. Other than a few years spent in Hanover while in nursing school, Nancy spent her entire life in the Town of Abington and was married to the late Walter S. Dunbar, Jr. of Abington in 1968.
Nancy was a 1962 graduate of Abington High School and soon after, entered Brockton Hospital School of Nursing. She was a hospital nurse for many years and then after her family grew, she continued to work as a visiting nurse for the rest of her career.
While an exceptional nurse for many years, Nancy’s top priority in her life was the care and wellbeing of her entire family, where she provided unconditional love and support to all. She will be loved and missed greatly by all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Anzivino) and her husband, George of Abington, daughter Heather, also of Abington, daughter Rachel Dunbar-Leal and husband Gustavo and son Chico of Bellingham, MA, her son Chris, and his wife Bonnie of East Bridgewater and their two sons Matthew and Trevor of East Bridgewater and Plymouth MA respectively, her brother, Mark and his wife Peg of Duxbury MA, and dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend Nancys visiting hours Wednesday, December 27th from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A celebration of life service will take place Thursday, December 28th at 10:00 AM in the United Church of Christ, 10 Bedford St., Abington. A gathering of family and friends will be held after the service, details will be announced at the service.
