Muriel I. (Loranger) Knowles, 95, of New Bedford died December 16, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Kenneth W. Knowles.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Alfred F. and Jeannette (Samoisette) Loranger, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was formerly employed as a bookkeeper at Loranger Construction and later at Alberox Corporation until her retirement.
Mrs. Knowles enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Stephen Knowles and his wife Gail of East Freetown; her daughter, Nancy Dawson and her husband Matthew of New Bedford; her brother, Roland Loranger and his wife Ida of The Villages, FL; 6 grandchildren, Christopher Knowles, Kevin Knowles, Craig Dawson, Kerri Mello and her husband Keith, Danielle Villarreal and her husband Santiago, and Kimberly Bewsher and her husband Christopher; 5 great-grandchildren, Alaina, Liam, Aubrey, Calum and Pierce; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Michael Knowles and David Knowles and the sister of the late Gerard Loranger and Yolande Crawford.
Her Memorial Funeral will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 10 AM in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd. New Bedford. Her family will receive guests from 9-10 AM on Saturday morning at church prior to her Mass. Arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
