Charles P. Siciliano, Sr, passed away peacefully supported by his loving family at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Saturday, December 16th He was 96. Born and raised in East Boston, he was the son of the late Rocco and Carmela (Emma) Siciliano. At the age of 17 and with his parents’ permission, Charles enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Pacific on the battleship USS North Carolina during World War II. After his discharge from the service, Charles married Leonora Antoncecchi and the couple settled in Somerville where they raised their family.
Charles began a 32 year career serving the people of Somerville as a firefighter. He ended his career achieving the rank of District Chief. During his tenure, he also helped develop and ran the Firefighter’s Credit Union. Charlie was a life member of the Wakefield Elks and was a long-time member of St. Mary, Star of the Sea Parish in East Boston. In his years of retirement, he and Leonora lived in Stoneham. Possessed of a strong work ethic, a spirit of generosity, and devotion to his family and friends, Charlie often greeted family members or friends with a warm welcome and the question “what can I do for you today?”
The beloved husband of the late Leonora J. (Antoncecchi) Siciliano, Charles was the devoted father of Karen McLaughlin and her husband David of Melrose, Buster Siciliano and his wife Cheryl of Billerica and Carol Bailey and her husband Jack of Stoneham. He was a loving grandfather to Sheena, Dave and his wife Shannan, Tori and her husband Kevin and Bobby. He was a loving great grandfather to Layla, Emma, Harper, Harry, and David III. He was also the dear brother of the late Joseph Accardi, Mary Travascio and Florence Travaglini.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Wednesday, December 20th from 4 – 8 PM and again on Thursday morning at 10 with a procession to St. Raphael Church, 512 High St. Medford for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
