Evelyn M. "Evie" (O'Donnell) Collier, (FORMER OWNER OF COLLIER'S MARKET), a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving and devoted children and grandchildren at her home in Charlestown. She was 85 years of age.
Evie was born in Boston on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, 1938, a daughter of the late John O'Donnell and Anna (Crogan) O'Donnell. She grew up in Charlestown and was educated in the Boston Public School System. Evie was the former owner of Collier's Market in Charlestown where she worked alongside her husband Bob tirelessly while serving the many people of Charlestown and surrounding communities. Evie was a very spiritual person, and her faith gave her the strength to live life daily with all the trials and tribulations she encountered. Her family was paramount in her life, and she was so very proud of her children knowing how much they gave of their lives to care for their mother and she was especially proud of each one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and what they have accomplished in their lives.
Evie is the beloved wife of 63 years to the late Robert "Bob" Collier. She is the devoted mother of Lyn Collier-Parziale and her partner Ranger, Robert Collier Jr. and his wife Karen, Joseph Collier and his partner Sandy, Michael Collier and his wife Julie, Mazie Collier and her partner Kenny, Ann Collier and her best friend Phil, David Collier and his partner Cara, and the late Boston Police Lieutenant George Collier and his surviving wife Maureen, and the late John Collier and his surviving wife Lauren. She is the loving Nana Ev to John, Joseph, Robert, Andrew, Kelly, Nicole, Justyne, Brendan, Amanda, Bridgette, Travis, Caroline and her great-grandchildren Caiden, Camryn, Brielle, Ceagan, Joseph III, Ella, Rowan, McKenna, Georgie Mae, Evelyn, Reece, and Neila. She is the dear sister of Dorothy Egan, Kay Heeter and the late John O'Donnell, James O'Donnell, Joseph O'Donnell, Ann Yandle, Mary O'Halloran and Grace Stella. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Evie's Funeral on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Her visiting hours will be on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 3 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
