Elias N. Georges Rostom “Elie Rostom”, 72, of Worcester died Friday, December 15th in UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. He leaves five brothers, Ghazi Rostom of Worcester, Rostom Rostom and his wife, Mary of Sydney, Australia, George Rostom and his wife, Amal of Worcester, Joseph Georgi and his wife, Camilla of Worcester, and Albert Rostom of Lebanon; two sisters, Marierose Georges and her husband, Antoine, and Ayda Roukos and her husband, Antoine all of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews.
Elie was a devoted soul and spent the formative years of his life in the picturesque town of Chekka, Lebanon, where he embraced the rich culture and community bonds. In 1987, Elie embarked on a new chapter, venturing across the oceans to Worcester, MA, where he would weave the fabric of his life for many years. Known for his happy spirit, Elie radiated positivity, bringing joy to those fortunate enough to share in his company. His caring nature was a constant source of comfort and support for friends and family alike. Whether through acts of kindness or a warm smile, Elie left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who crossed his path. Throughout his time in Worcester, Elie immersed himself in the community, becoming a familiar face and a pillar of strength for those in need. His legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and the enduring power of a joyful heart. As we bid farewell to Elie Rostom, let us celebrate a life well-lived and the enduring impact of a truly remarkable individual.
His funeral is Wednesday, December 20th with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Maronite Catholic Church, 341 June Street (Please go directly to church). Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, December 19th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family to send to his beloved hometown, Chekka.
