Sandra E. Martin Calhoun, 73, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, December 16, 2023.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Gary Mimbs and the Rev. Steve Hood officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Mrs. Calhoun was born October 4, 1950, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late C.L and Dorothy Phillips Martin. She was a 1970 graduate of Fitzgerald Highschool, and attended Ben Hill – Irwin Tech Cosmetology class. She was a homemaker and a parttime substitute teacher in Fitzgerald and Ocilla. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a devoted Christian and lifelong member of the Church of Nazarene in Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dennis Calhoun of Fitzgerald; 2 sons: Derrick Calhoun & Mary Ellen of Hahira and Brian Calhoun & Sarah of Bonaire; five grandchildren: Folton Calhoun, Emma Rose Calhoun, Claire Calhoun, Cooper Calhoun, and Parker Calhoun; a brother: Steve Martin & Jamie of Tifton; a sister: Susan Brown & Keith of Fitzgerald; a sister-in-law Sue Martin of Valdosta; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother Ronnie Martin.
