Marie (Maria) DiCiaccio, 93, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 14 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was a resident of Tewksbury, MA for almost 70 years. She was born in Somerville, MA on September 26, 1930 to Joseph E. and Stella Rose (Finochietti) Marangi. She grew up with siblings Phyllis Hull, Joseph Marangi and Anne Rich who have all predeceased her. Marie was the wife of John DiCiaccio for 57 years until his death in March 2007.
Marie had a long career in accounting at many different companies including TASC and The Springfield Terminal. She will be best remembered for her role as a cashier at Oakdale Market Basket in Tewksbury for the past 17 years. She loved “her customers” and they loved her.
She was always quite busy in her life but in her spare time she loved tap dancing, community theatre, and cooking dinner for friends. She was also a former officer of the Sons of Italy Lodge of Tewksbury, MA.
She is survived by Deborah Deputat and her husband Joel of Sebastian, FL, Donna Aldrich of North Andover, MA, and John DiCiaccio and his wife Linda Coughlin of Pelham, NH, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews, and long term companion Stan Finer.
Calling hours will be held at Tewksbury Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 19 from 3:00pm-7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 20 at 11:30 am at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main Street, Tewksbury, MA,
