Michiko Nozu of Newton died on Sunday July 1, 2006 at the age of fifty-three. Born in Fukuoka Japan, she was the only daughter of Itsuko Nozu and the late Dr. Kiyosi Nozu. She was educated at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu and Waseda University in Tokyo. Her expertise lay in the Japanese localization of software and documentation. Michiko worked at Language Engineering Corp of Belmont, Modulo Systems of Cambridge and Lionbridge Technologies of Waltham. An avid jigsaw puzzler, originally with cardboard puzzles, but more recently with electric ones. She loved to visit yard sales, to walk on beaches of Maine, and canoe on the Charles. Her greatest joy was tennis, playing it herself or watching professional tennis tournaments on television. She is survived by her husband Charles E. “Chuck” Houpt, her daughters Naomi and Tamiko Brackett of Santa Fe, New Mexico, her mother Itsuko Nozu and her brother Dr. Makoto Nozu of Tokyo. Visiting hours will be held at the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. NEWTON CORNER on Tuesday July 4th from 1-3 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
