Mary C. (Walsh) O’Brien, 99, of Braintree, passed away Thursday December 14th, 2023. She was the beloved wife to the late Francis W. O’Brien.
Mary was born May 3, 1924 in South Boston, where she grew up and graduated high school from. She was the daughter to the late Thomas and Mary (McCarthy) Walsh.
In 1944 Mary and Francis got married and spent many happy years together. Prior to her husbands passing they enjoyed living in Florida and in Mattapoisett.
Mary was an avid reader; she also loved the beach and the warm weather.
She is survived by her children, Elaine Joyce of Abington, Francis and his wife Joanne O’Brien of Norwell, Robert and his wife Terri O’Brien of Rockland, and Janet Rice and her husband Donald of Whitman. Her brother John Walsh of Virginia. Mary is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She predeceased by her husband Francis O’Brien, her sister Josephine McQueen, sister Margaret Healy, sister Helen (Pat) Gorham, and brother Thomas Walsh.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mary’s visiting hours Tuesday December 19th, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, with a service to follow at 12:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A private burial will take place at a later date.
