Monroe Deese, 78, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, December 14, 2023, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Mike Heitzman officiating.
Mr. Deese was born June 5, 1945, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late B.R. & Clara Cason Deese. He was a 1964 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. He honorably served over 30 years in the Army National Guard retiring as Staff Sergeant. Mr. Deese served his country during Desert Storm. He worked with Engineering Associates as an inspector and with Roanoke Construction. Mr. Deese loved serving his country, bird hunting, deer hunting and helping others. He was a member of Pine Level Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann McDonald Deese of Fitzgerald; a son, Robert Monroe Deese, Jr. & Wendy of Glen Saint Mary, Florida; a daughter, Cynthia Joanne Deese Bryan of Jacksonville, Florida; two grandchildren: Lane Deese and Riley Katsikas; and a brother, D.E. “Dock” Deese of Nichols. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Forrest Hutto and a sister, Lucille Ott.
