Maria M. (Oliveira) DeFreitas, 78, of Westport, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Catholic Memorial Home. She was the wife of the late Carlos N. DeFreitas.
Mrs. DeFreitas was born in Faial, Acores daughter of the late Felix and Amelia (Avila) Oliveira and had been a longtime resident of Westport. Prior to retirement, she worked at Chace Curtain, Fall River. She was a communicant of Our lady of Grace Church, Westport and a member of the Women's Guild. She loved crocheting, puzzles, dancing, and playing cards. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son: Carlos Freitas and his wife Gail of Mattapoisett; her daughter: Diane M. Czapiga and her husband Michael of Assonet; sister: Ophelia (Oliveira) Silva; 3 brothers: Jose, Felix, and John Oliveira; 3 grandchildren: Brandyn, Ashlyn and Allyson; along with many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 11 A.M.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Potter Funeral Home from 9:30-10:30 A.M., prior to the Mass.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
