CHICOPEE – Robert J. Carroll, 78, of the Willimansett Heights section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on May 4, 1945, a beloved son of the late George A. and Gladys E. (Ingham) Carroll. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and had lived in Chicopee his entire life. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He was employed as a mechanic and had owned and operated Carroll’s Repairs on Montgomery Street in Chicopee. He was a former member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks. During his leisure time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR races and sporting events, tending to his yard and tinkering with his car. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his three children, Tammie A. Carroll, Rob Carroll and Jay Carroll; his step son, Jonathan Ingle; his brother, John Carroll; his sister, Lynne E. Centerbar and her husband, Russell; and his many extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Wayne Carroll and his wife, Elaine; and his sister in law, Carol Carroll. His family will receive friends on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Service at Forestdale Cemetery, 304 Cabot Street, Holyoke, MA 01040. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
