SALEM, MA___Zigmas A. Sermuksnis, 82, of Salem, passed away Friday December 8, 2023 in Briarwood Rehabilitation Center, Needham.
Zigmas is survived by his children, Glenn Hardcastle, Eric Hardcastle, Brandelyn Burnham, Sara Sermuksnis, Antonas Sermuksnis, Nicholas Sermuksnis, and Savannah LaBrie, 7 grandchildren, a sister, Aldona Shumway, two brothers, Julius Sermuksnis and George Sermuksnis, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Stephanie Sermuksnis, a sister, Gema Danahar, and his daughter, Mychel Kendall. Zigmas was born in Marijampole, Lithuania, a son of the late Adolphas and Magdalena (Pauliukonis) Sermuksnis, and emigrated to the United States as a child following World War II.
Zigmas wore many hats over the years. From retail to teaching to engineering. He worked hard and was always much loved by his peers. He enjoyed activities such as tennis and photography, taking walks in the city and nature, and exploring new places. He was funny, kind, and always a pleasure to be around.
Calling hours for Zigmas will be held on Saturday December 16, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St, Worcester. His memorial service and celebration of life will be held on January 6, 2024 with a Mass at 11:00 AM in ST. JOHN'S CHURCH, 40 Temple St, Worcester.
