Marcia Ann (Hallett) Ross, 82, of Hanson, MA, a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, left this world on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.
Marcia was born to Carleton and Elizabeth Hallett on August 24, 1941. She grew up and attended schools in Dorchester and Jeanne D’Arc in Milton, and after graduating from high school, Marcia attended Boston Teachers College.
In 1964, Marcia and Neil Ross met while working at Brighams, and had their first date at a Bruins game, beginning a 56-year love story. They married in 1967 and together raised their 3 sons: Craig, Joseph, and Jeffrey.
Marcia spent the boys’ childhoods at hockey rinks all over the South Shore and beyond – especially with Neil often on the road for work. For many years, Marcia was also a faithful member of St. Joseph the Worker in Hanson. Marcia worked in customer service at Liberty Mutual for 25 plus years, and also worked as weekend dispatcher at the Hanson Fire Department.
In later years, Marcia enjoyed spending time with her seven grandchildren and traveling to Alaska, Europe, and the Caribbean on cruises.
Marcia is survived by her husband, Neil, of Hanson; her sons: Craig of Biloxi, MS and his wife Daliance and daughters Greysen and McRae; Joe of Windham, NH and his wife Alyssa and sons Aidan, Colin and Seamus; and Jeff of Wakefield, MA and his wife Allison and sons Brendan and Dylan. Marcia is also survived by her brother, David Hallett and his wife Joanne, of Jupiter, FL and brother-in-law Edgar Dempsey of Hanson; her sister-in-law Nancy Dempsey recently preceded her in death. Marcia was fortunate to also have many cherished nephews and a niece, along with other extended family and many dear friends.
The family is also eternally grateful to Marcia’s caregivers as her health declined, especially to Patricia Sadowski of Pembroke who did so much for her over the past few years.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Tuesday December 19 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Her funeral service will be on Wednesday December 20 at 10:15 AM from the Chapel, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Hanson. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hanson Fire Department would be greatly appreciated.
