Obituary

John J. Trovato, age 71, a highly decorated U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, passed away at home on Thursday, December 7, 2023.

He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Maureen A. (McCarthy) Trovato.

Born in Methuen on December 9, 1951, he was the son of Theresa M. (Ricard) (Trovato) Sousa, of Middleton and the late Alfred A. Trovato.

John was raised in Lawrence and Salisbury and graduated from Triton Regional High School.

In 1969, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. John served two tours during the Vietnam War and was awarded several decorations for his active-duty service including the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, a Meritorious Mast, and the Purple Heart.

Following his honorable discharge on October 31, 1975, he worked as a lab technician for the H.P. Fuller Company and was a member of the Laborers Union.

John was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved riding his Harley Davidson.

In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves his children, Jacob J. Trovato, of Tewksbury, John J. Trovato, Jr. and his wife Jackie, of Billerica, and Shannon R. Harasen, of Tewksbury: seven grandchildren, Jacob Trovato, Jr., Caleb, Skylar, Kassidy, Keira and Klhoe Trovato, and Cheyanne Harasen. John was the brother of Louise Hargis, of Pensacola, FL, Patricia Mascaro, of Salisbury, Sandra Washburn, of Newburyport, Alfred Trovato, Jr., of California, Theresa Learned, of Haverhill and the late Mary Brown.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, Dec 15th from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Interment of his ashes will be held at a later date at the Massachusetts State Veterans Cemetery in Winchendon.
