Laura Butkovich of Eastham, MA, formerly of Ossining, passed away peacefully at the age of ninety. She was born on March 9, 1933 and raised in Tarrytown, NY by her parents, Louis, and Santa Cozzi Franceschini. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother John Franceschini.
Laura Bukovich is survived by her adoring husband of 60 years, Anthony Butkovich of Eastham, MA, her daughter Lea Goddard, of Hull, MA, her son, Mark Butkovich, his wife Rose and grandson Markie DiSisto Butkovich of Wallkill, NY, her brothers Dino Franceschini of Fairfax, VA, Lou Franceschini of Las Vegas, NV.
Laura was a devoted wife, a proud, loving and supportive mother and grandmother, and a good friend and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Laura graduated from Washington Irving High School in Tarrytown, NY and studied at the NY Foundling Hospital in NY, becoming a nurse working with newborns and premature babies at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Tarrytown. Tarrytown was where she met and married the love of her life, Anthony. They moved to Ossining in 1969 to raise their children. Laura loved all babies and children, leading her to become a teacher’s aide in the Ossining School system before retiring to Cape Cod in 1997 with her husband. They enjoyed several good years of retirement and worldwide travel. Laura was an avid volunteer at the St. Joan of Arc Thrift Store where she enjoyed time with many friends.
Laura Franceschini Butkovich went home to Jesus on Friday, December 8th, 2023, after a lengthy battle with COPD and CHF. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the COPD Foundation in her memory.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at St. Joan of Arc Church in Orleans from 11AM - 12PM. Funeral Mass will begin at 12PM with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Eastham to follow.
