Obituary




Margaret “Peggy” M. (Barnacle) McGovern, 87, of Worcester passed away Friday, December 8th at Rose Monahan Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. She leaves a son, Reggie Allain of Worcester; four daughters, Deborah Thacker of Worcester, Brenda Davin of Worcester, Wendy McHugh and her husband, Brian of Wolfeboro, NH, and Sandra Healy and her husband, Edward of Worcester; twelve grandchildren, Jessica, Kristie, Michael, Danny, Krystle, Ashley, Amanda, Kacie, Joseph, Nicholas, Lauren, and Shawn; and eleven great grandchildren, Jacob, Kennedy, Clayton, Brayden, Scarlet, Daniel Jr., Teagan, Kaiden, Pauline, Gianna, and Gabriel.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of Thomas and Ethel (Marsden) Barnacle. Peggy graduated from Commerce High school and then attended David Hale Fanning Nursing School where she earned her LPN. She began her nursing career at St. Vincent Hospital and then moved on to the Red Cross as a phlebotomist. She loved watching Jeopardy and the New England Patriots, she also enjoyed crocheting and beading. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She was very loved and will be deeply missed. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Elizabeth, her CNA and also to the staff of Rose Monahan Hospice.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 13th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue to St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 929 Main Street with a Mass beginning at 10:00am. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 12th from 5:00 pm until 7:00pm in the funeral home. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is assisting the family with arrangements.
