Rev. John E. Surette, SJ of Weston, on December 6, 2023. Beloved son of the late Ralph M. & Mary (O’Keefe) Surette. Brother of Sr. Marie Surette, OP, Dr. Ralph Surette and Stephen Surette. Father is also survived by his many Jesuit brothers. Father Surette grew up in North Cambridge. His was a prophetic voice on ecological spirituality issues. Although, he spoke to an often resistant and unresponsive people, he was nonetheless sustained by the gifts of courage and patience to remain faithful to the course to which God continued to call him throughout his adult life. Reposing at Campion Center, 319 Concord Rd. Weston, MA. Concelebrated Funeral Mass in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, Campion Center on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 10 am. Burial will take place at Campion Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jesuit Community, Campion Center, 319 Concord Rd., Weston, MA 02493 to support its ministry of care for elderly and infirm Jesuits.
