Judy Carol Hansen, 87, of Ventura, CA went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 30, 2023. Judy lived a life of devotion to God and family. She touched many, many lives along her way.
Judy, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother is survived by her husband Dave; her four boys, Dean, Jim, Don, and John; her sister Marilyn Lowe; her brother Steve Casad; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was born May 3,1936 in Champagne, IL to Bob and Dorothy Casad.
The family moved to California when Judy was a child. She attended Whittier High School then attended Long Beach State College. She met her future husband Dave Hansen at a Christian intervarsity fellowship meeting. They were married on April 9, 1960 in Whittier, CA. Judy and Dave both taught school in Whittier for a while before relocating to Ventura in 1963.
Judy was a devoted, busy mother to four rambunctious boys and raised them in the Christian faith. As the boys grew Judy was able to share some of her many talents with others. She was an accomplished musician playing the piano, organ, and harp and taught others. Judy also brightened many lives with her artwork. She painted porcelain pottery, dishes, and on canvas and paper. Judy and Dave built a cabin at Hume Lake Christian Camp in the Sierras where the family spent parts of many summers.
After the boys left home Judy turned her energy toward evangelism and missionary work. She went to India to spread the gospel and audience with Mother Theresa. Judy also went to Israel and experienced the Holy land in the footsteps of Jesus. She distributed bibles at colleges and jails and ministered to the prisoners. In later life Judy shared the gospel with those in need online.
Judy is greatly loved and will be dearly missed. The last few years have been a struggle with Alzheimer’s and the family wishes to especially thank Judy’s longtime caregiver Patti Shiles for tender, caring devotion during this time.
A Celebration of Life service will be held December 16, 10 am, at Ventura Missionary Church, 500 Highpoint Drive, Ventura.
