With great sadness the family of Donald Edward Smith report his passing on December 6, 2023 following a period of declining health. Donald was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Helen Smith.
Donald was born to John and Margaret Smith on December 14, 1934 in Quincy, Massachusetts. After graduating from Quincy High School, he proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War, serving as a sonarman on the USS Atka icebreaker and traveling to Antarctica. Upon his return, Donald attended Northeastern University, earning an MBA. He went on to enjoy a successful career in engineering project management.
Beloved husband of the late Helen (Norton) Smith. Loving father of Karen Smith and her partner Jim Neuman, Cheryl Moran and her husband Francis, and Michelle Smith. Grandfather of Bernadette Kerivan and her husband Kenneth, and Kyle Moran. Also survived by four great grandchildren.
In his later years, Donald also found joy and comfort in a relationship with the late Doreen Finlayson.

Visiting hours at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury on Tuesday, December 12th from 5-8pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Wednesday, December 13th at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa Church at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
