NEW BEDFORD… Maureen T. Branchaud, age 58, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA.
Born in New Bedford, MA, Maureen was a lifelong resident of the area. She was the daughter of the late Girard C. and Sheila (Woodley) Branchaud.
Maureen was a tremendously loving and caring person, spending much of her working life as a caretaker in a variety of health care settings. She was known for her passionate personality and free spirit, a loud and proud Scorpio. Among her many interests, Maureen loved music and dancing. Throughout her life, she was an avid reader, particularly of poetry. She enjoyed writing poetry herself, and even wrote an unpublished memoir detailing her fertility and pregnancy journey. Maureen loved being at the beach and spent as much time by the ocean as she could. She also was a true believer in the supernatural, starting with ghost hunting shows and events and eventually even engaging in ghost hunts of her own.
While Maureen was known for her many loves, including her favorite color purple, the Archangel Michael, and yoga, she was known most of all for the abundance of her love. She was always surrounded by animals, especially cats, and enjoyed nothing more than time spent with family and friends. Most of all, she dreamed of being a mother, eventually realizing that dream with the birth of her twin daughters, Kristin and Alyssa. She showered her family with love and cherished memories.
Survivors include: daughters, Kristin Gonzales of Fall River, MA and Alyssa Gonzales of Brockton, MA; brothers, Tony (and wife Tammy) Branchaud of Taunton, MA and Steve Branchaud of New Bedford, MA; nieces and nephews, Robin Howell, Jennifer (and husband Jay) Medeiros, Jason Medeiros, Kevin Branchaud, and Kyle Branchaud; and her inseparable best friends Joyce, Ana, and Lois. In addition to her parents, Maureen was predeceased by her brother, the late David Branchaud.
