Dorothy McGraw Stubbs, 89, of Orlando, Florida passed away Sunday, February 13, 2005, following a brief illness. A graveside funeral service was held for Mrs. Stubbs at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she was laid to rest. The Rev. Paul Thomas officiated.
Born October 29, 1915, in Jacksonville, Florida, Mrs. Stubbs was the daughter of the late Thomas Leon McGraw and Frances McGraw. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Stubbs, Sr., who was Executive Secretary of the Atlanta Baptist Association and Minister of Education at First Baptist Church of Atlanta, as well as Trustee at Atlanta Baptist College. She had lived for many years in Atlanta; and she was a member of First Baptist Church of Winter Park, Florida, where she served as Director of Preschool and Children until 1986. She led both adult and children's education programs at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church in Atlanta prior to moving to Florida.
Mrs. Stubbs is survived by two sons, Frank L. Stubbs, Jr. of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Tom Stubbs of Orlando, Florida; three sisters, Frances Wallis and Virginia Kees, both of Decatur and Ann Ventress of Venice, Florida; two grandchildren, Shannon Kowalczyk and Thomas Stubbs, Jr.; one great-grandson, Mason Kowalczyk; several loving nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
