Obituary

Leo Joseph Gallagher, Sr., 90, of Franklin died December 6 in Advinia Care of Northbridge following a long illness. He was the husband of the late Anne E. “Nancy” (Dunne) Gallagher who died in 2021.

Born in Boston, November 29, 1933, the son of the late Leo M. and Helen (Flynn) Gallagher, Leo was raised and had lived in Brookline before moving to Franklin where he lived for 60 years.

He was a 1949 graduate of Brookline High School.

He had been an ombudsman in the emergency room of Newton Wellesley Hospital before retiring. He had previously worked as an EMT for the Town of Medway and AMR and had also worked at GTE Sylvania.

Leo served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War and had attained the rank of Sergeant and had been a Drill Sergeant at Paris Island.

He enjoyed times in the summer in Chatham and celebrating the Marine Corps Annual Birthday.

He is survived by his children, Leo Gallagher, Jr. and his wife Lucy of England and his daughter Shannon Reeve of Franklin.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kelsey (Gallagher) Mallender & her husband Joe, Anna Gallagher, Amelia Gallagher, Abigail Reeve and George Reeve.

Leo is also survived by his brother-in-law Harry Dunne and his wife Vicky of Wakefield, and many nieces and nephews.

Leo’s services will be private.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Franklin Senior Center at 10 Daniel McCahill Street, Franklin, MA 02038.
